How To Make Barcodes using Avery DesignPro 5 Lite Edition and MS Excel:
Do you need to make barcodes for your products so your cash register and barcode scanner will do all the work for you?
The software you need is called Avery DesignPro 5 Light for PC.
It is free to get and use - you can download it here.
Go straight to the Intilligence DEMONSTRATION MOVIE on how to make barcodes or read on.
Overview:
Use MS Excel to make a database file from a spreadsheet that Avery DesignPro 5 will import. This will automate the process and relieve you from manually inputting data and making barcodes one at a time which can be very tedious.
Just setup MS Excel spreadsheet using three columns as shown in example below:
- Column A and C are number cells with no decimal point
- Column B is a text field.

Use the TRIM function on the columns the make sure that any blank characters of spaces are removed from data in columns. The use of the TRIM function is shown in the demonstration Flash file.
When you have the spreadsheet finished and ready to use it is vital that you save the Excel spreadsheet as a DBF 3 (dBASE III) (*.dbf) file type. As shown in the screen grab example below.

The Avery software should look like the screen grab example shown below.

Open the saved dBASE file - how? - see red circle - it will have the file extension .dbf and you can now process the entire spreadsheet in one go.
